At home with Martin Ehmele
Martin Ehmele is a content creator, floral artist, and fashion enthusiast. He lives with his dog Habibi in a 107 square metre apartment in Vienna's Arsenal, a former 19th century military complex. Nearly five metre high vaulted ceilings and thick walls characterise the architecture and give the rooms a unique sense of spaciousness. Carefully selected objects and plenty of greenery create a home that is very personal – and deliberately sets itself apart from classic, trendy interiors.

Modern meets Vintage

Vintage pieces from flea markets and antique shops meet clean, modern elements, creating an interior that is allowed to evolve over time. Because, as Martin says, "Life is a continuous process of growth – right up to the very end". And this is reflected not only in Martin's personal development, but also in his home.

Green Living as a statement

"My earliest memories are of spending a lot of time in the garden." Martin's connection to nature is still evident today – in his interior design and his work. Large green plants are as much a part of the rooms as sculptural bouquets and floral patterns on textiles. They bring structure, movement, and an organic dimension to the architecture.

Dining with retro flair

The dining area is designed to be both functional and a social hub. It's a place for working, eating, and spending time together. Retro-style furniture lends the room charm and a light, airy feel.

A dynamic mix of materials

Chrome and glass meet bold colours and textile surfaces. This creates a captivating contrast that brings the interior to life. It's an interplay that is neither purely minimalist nor deliberately playful, but allows for both at the same time.

Details matter

A few favourites and unusual combinations add personality and spatial depth. Martin isn't concerned with matching everything perfectly, but rather with surrounding himself with things that feel right.

Flowers as Expression

"Ever since childhood, fashion has always been a form of armour and protection for me, a way to express my inner self and simply have fun with aesthetics."

Historical charm

Large French doors connect the different areas and give the apartment structure. They open up lines of sight and allow light to circulate freely.

Highlighted!

The bedroom is deliberately more minimalist than the other rooms. Clean lines and a few select elements define the look, complemented by carefully chosen colour accents. A beautiful retreat!

"I'm in my prime."
